Welcome to Ancaster Ragdoll
Breeding Traditional & Cherubim

DSC03913.jpg

Please note the change to the registration of what was formerly described as Mink, Sepia and Solid Ragdoll Cats.  Starting May 1st 2025, all Mink, Sepia and Solid TICA registered Ragdoll kittens will be registered as Cherubim a part of the Ragdoll breed group.  Cherubim Ragdolls (Mink, Sepia and Solids) are not a particular pattern, but a specific blood line/genes and are just as much Ragdoll as the Traditional with their ancestry traced back to the Ann Bakers original cats (from which the Ragdoll breed was developed).

This change in the cat associations registry allows for the Cherubim Ragdoll to be shown and earn titles - an option that was previously only available to Traditional Ragdoll cats, although both varieties were included in the registry.   Further information can be found online and/or by accessing the links at the bottom of the page.

The Ragdoll cat is renowned for its luxurious coat in a variety of colours and patterns with brilliant eye colour, but even more so for its outstanding temperament and disposition.  The name "Ragdoll" is derived from their tendency to go limp and relaxed when picked up.  This of course is dependent on individual cats, but in general, it is a breed that is very laid back and affectionate.  It is also a breed that is often described as being dog like in it's friendliness and sociability.

For those looking for a companion who is interested in sharing in all aspects of household, that can blend well with (respectful) children and other pets, that can adjust to the hustle and bustle of busy lifestyles or fit well with a calm, quiet atmosphere, a Ragdoll cat may be your answer.  Given the Ragdoll's involvement with their people, they are not a breed that thrives well with too much alone time.  For homes where the cat will be left for longer periods of time, consider getting two Ragdoll cats to provide each other with company and entertainment.

Looking for a companion is a serious undertaking.  Ragdoll Cats and indoor cats in general  have an average lifespan of 15 years or more (outdoor cats average 2-4 years), so finding a healthy, well adjusted creature to augment your life should take some consideration.  Find a breeder that you are comfortable with and have confidence in. The health and temperament of the parents of kittens is the first step in insuring the preservation of future generations.  In addition to good genetics, the first weeks of the kittens life - exposure to their surrounding, socialization, interaction with people and other animals - all contribute to developing confident, curious, outgoing kittens and set them on the path to becoming well attached companions and active members of the household.

The internet offers extensive information on cats in general, Ragdolls, Ragdoll colours, detailed explanations of Traditional and Cherubim breed lines, raising kittens, feeding, etc., so in addition to information on this website, I have included some links that I find to be useful information.
